Matter and Energy: Forces causing movement
2. investigate devices that use forces to create controlled movement.
|
During this unit, students will:
1. assess the impact of various forces on society and the environment (erosion leads to polluted lakes and rivers or depleted soil on farmlands; costs and benefits of using safety devices that minimize the effects of forces). |
3. demonstrate an understanding of how forces cause movement and changes in movement (forces are a push or a pull; different kinds of forces: gravity, magnetic, tension...; forces applied to an object at rest can cause the object to start, stop, attract, repel, or change direction; forces are exerted through direct contact or indirect contact; forces are used in our daily lives.
