Choosing or finding a book that is the good fit is essential to keep children interested and motivated to read.
Here are the criteria for choosing good fit books:
1. The child chooses the book.
2. There is a purpose for reading the book (pleasure, to gain knowledge...).
3. The subject is interesting to the child.
4. The child understands what he/she is reading.
5. The child knows most of the words.
*Five Finger Rule: less than 5 uknown words per page.
* Students may also borrow French books from the classroom library. These books are already numerically levelled making it easier for them to know which are a good fit for them.
